This is a boxed set: 78 cards and companion book.
“Take an exciting trip through an extravaganza of 78 vivid and expertly hand-painted Tarot cards inspired by the vintage, old-school tattoo flash of Sailor Jerry Collins. Influenced by Rider-Waite, this deck and guidebook are styled for the serious life explorer, identifying important symbols and key thoughts visually, so you may intuitively read the cards and demystify your own journey. Fully equipped to tackle anything―the micro-cosmic to the macro-enormous―the Majors feature archetypal figures sure to play roles in our lives as aspects of ourselves or situations we are bound to encounter. The Minor suits have their own look and set of common symbols and are concerned with life’s little details. Along with a comprehensive glossary of symbols and their meanings, three simple spreads, and descriptive essays to guide you, this set offers eternal truths via the timeless medium of Tarot.”
78 hand painted tarot cards in the tattoo art style. The cards have black backgrounds with no border line to distract the eye. The cards are packed full of symbols and color.
The guidebook is a delight to read! I look forward to the insight offered on each of the cards. In the Major Arcana the Death card is only given the number “13”. None of the other Majors have a number at the bottom. The card numbers are in the picture of the card on a banner with the card name after. This is an interesting approach.
The Minor Arcana are also jam packed full of color and symbolism with the same black, borderless background. The card name is across the bottom.
I love the detail of this deck and if you like a busy card front this deck will delight you with all of its symbols and color. The “tattoo” style is something I think will resonate with many. The guidebook is a wonderful addition to this deck and gives us a look into the world of Gabi Angus-West.
A beginner may struggle with this style. This deck would be a wonderful addition to a tarot collection.
