Maybe Lenormand honors the Lenormand tradition with stylized illustrations that convey the core meaning at the heart of each card. Expanding the 36-card Petit Lenormand, designer Ryan Edward has created 16 additional cards to complete a 52-card pack, following the heritage of fortune telling cards based on playing card decks. Set includes 72-page illustrated guidebook with keywords, meanings and instructions for reading with either 36 or 52 cards.
This deck has been sitting on my shelf for some time and although I gave it a look when it first arrived I wasn’t sure at the time I would like having so many extra cards. Now that I’ve had time to work with the deck it have found it to be a very versatile deck. I know it’s all the rage to have extra lady and gentleman cards but this system does not. I like it this way. Since I’m a novice Lenormand reader I find it easier to read without so many “people cards.” I asked the cards for an outcome to a very political question and I was astounded at how clear the answer was!
The card images are simple and easy to understand. (Some decks get too far away from the simplicity of Lenormand and I tend to find the more complicated images distracting.) I love that you can remove the extra cards and do readings with the standard 36 cards. The extra cards do add some clarity and dimension to the readings. The companion booklet is helpful for key words and spread information. I LOVE the size of these cards. So easy to fit onto a table top for a grand reading!
